The traditional
"flat cap" is late 15th-, early 16th-century English. It was worn by
both men and women.
Flat caps are available in cotton twill or wool. Lined. Reinforced brim.
Cotton flat caps are normally available in black, navy blue, royal blue, forest green, burgundy, brown, beige, red, grey and khaki (beige). Click here for in stock
Wool hats are available in black, purple, plum,
dove gray and red.
Size: Our smallest flat cap measures 21 1/8" (hat size 6 3/4). We
do NOT make flat caps smaller than that. We stock hats up to 23 7/8" (hat
size 7 5/8). If your head is larger than that, there is a $2.50 alteration
charge.
Using a tape measure, measure the circumference of the head at its widest
point, about 3/4" above the ear valley. Measure tight to the nearest 1/8th
of an inch. We must have this measurement so we can
select the proper flat cap for you. Orders without this information will be
delayed.
Price: Cotton - $14.95
Wool -
$24.95

The coif (also called
a "Biggins Cap") was worn by both men and women. Worn under a straw
hat, a flat cap or a helm, the coif kept the wearers hair in place.
Unlike coifs from other manufacturers, ours are reversible and are made in a 3-panel style for a more comfortable, attractive fit.
Coifs are available in four fabrics: cotton lined with cotton; linen lined with linen; flannel lined with flannel; and wool lined with cotton. (The flannel and wool coifs may be worn as arming caps.)
Coifs have a cord sewn in to tie at the throat.
